Early Beginnings by Roeskva (PG-13)
I'm going to try and rec some Tok'ra fics - I saw that was one of the themes, and it seems it's been a while since that genre was recced.

Why this should be read: An interesting look at the very early days of the Tok'ra (since before the Tok'ra existed), and why some of them - especially Jolinar and Egeria - became Tok'ra. I really love background fic, and this gives a wonderful account of not only Jolinar's early life and how she became a Tok'ra, but also shows much about Goa'uld society.
This story has sequels (Undercover - the Life of a Tok'ra Operative) and (The Fall of Setona). The first of these follows Jolinar as a Tok'ra undercover operative, the other is background for Martouf, and how he became Lantash's host. Both of those have a minor amount of romance at the end (canon ship - Jolinar/Lantash).

*Perhaps you're just weak?* A voice suggested.
"What! Who dare say that!" Jolinar screamed at the silent room.
*Or perhaps they lied to you...* the voice continued.
"Who are you? Show yourself! Coward!"
*In here...I'm Arnora!*
"And that's supposed to mean anything to me?"
*I'm your host! Talk about being slow...*
"My host!" Jolinar pulled herself together and tried thinking the answer to the voice. That way she expected to prove it was someone outside and not her host - when no one answered. *Nothing of the host remains - you cannot be my host.*
*I am...they lied to you...*
