Calling all reccers: prison week!

It's been two weeks since the call for secondary character recs. Time to move on to another category!

A question first, though: are people interested in these theme weeks? Do you like the idea of encouraging specific types of recs? How many people are actually interested in reccing, as opposed to simply reading what others rec?

(Are you under the impression that this is Fig Newton's personal rec archive? It's not. That's actually over here. This comm is for everybody to post recs.)

I would set up a poll, but I'm not a paid user. So I'd appreciate if you'd all take the time to comment and let me know how you'd like the comm to work, and what you'd like to see in the future. Also, if you have any suggestions for themes or characters to feature in future weeks, please include those, too!

In the meantime...

This week, we are looking for prison fic! Jail breakouts, prison cells, off-world or on-world - rec your favorite gen story that features jailtime, either for individuals or the entire team. Hurt/comfort, humor, drama, or fluff are all equally welcome!

You might want to read the FAQ before posting. Official format is included in the FAQ entry and on the comm's profile page. And, as always, I will happily answer any questions you might have.

I would love to rec, I just always seem to forget...

I have signed up to rec gen for stargateficrecs this month, can I cross-post those here?

Also, if you have any suggestions for themes or characters to feature in future weeks, please include those, too!

I would love an 'aliens' week, or maybe a 'Tok'ra' or a 'Goa'uld' week, something like that. I am so in love with the Tok'ra :)

I don't see why not! Several of the recs I've made here are taken from my rec archive, and the Siler one was crossposted to stargateficrec simultaneously.

Aliens week, Tok'ra week, Goa'uld week - they all sound good to me. :)

I like the theme weeks! They inspire recs, and I also love breaking recs down into categories.

The tags do a pretty thorough job of breaking things into categories already, but it is fun to have themes - I'm glad you're enjoying them!

I like the theme weeks too! I couldn't get my act together for Secondary Characters, though, and I'm pretty sure there were things I could have recced. So maybe a free week interpersed now and then for catch-up? So that late recs won't be sprinkled among other themes, but periodically we can slip in some recs for weeks we missed?

It's also great to hear that we can double up on stargateficrec recs.

It does look like the theme weeks are going to stretch into two weeks at a time. And I have said that any non-themed recs are welcome, too... but if it feels awkward to rec a non-themed fic during a themed week, then the idea of a free week on occasion is a good one!

I have one more theme I'd like to do before I announce a free-for-all. We'll see how it goes. :)

D'oh -- I was assuming and not reading carefully. But that's great news for me, thank you! I'm still all over the place, but I would also still love to rec some secondary-characters fic. As long as it's OK with you, it won't feel awkward to me. And the 'Moebius' theme is great.

The thing that's most important to me for this comm is that, y'know, people rec. :D The themes are just a little extra push. As long as it's gen, any rec, any time, will be welcome!
