A new theme, and a request for future ones

...So, remember that time back in October when we had a new theme of on the edges of canon?

We had six recs on that theme (click on the link above to read them), through March of this year, and then -- silence. My fault, I know.

So in an effort to get this rec comm going again (because I still love SG-1, as most of you do as well, and I've seen more and more references to rewatches lately), I've chosen a new theme for us: other media.

This is your opportunity to rec any kind of fanwork that's gen and related to SG-1, whether it's vids, picspam, meta, fanart, or any other kind of media that isn't actually fic.

Use common sense regarding the gen rules for the comm. Picspam for Moebius that includes the Sam/Jack kiss or a vid for Unending that includes scenes of Daniel/Vala aren't a problem, as long as they're not the focus of the fanwork; a vid that highlights every Daniel/Sha're kiss throughout the show, even though it's the pairing that's dear to my heart, shouldn't be recced here. If you've got any questions, feel free to ask.

I would also like to invite suggestions for future themes. You can see the list of past themes over here. And, of course, don't forget that any gen rec is welcome at any time, even if it's not related to the current theme.

How do you feel about maybe using colloquialisms, cliches, or metaphors as open-ended types of themes - ones where there's considerable leeway in interpretation?

For example, a metaphor theme of 'Slippery Slope' could lead to fics involving the team / a team member dealing with a tricky moral issue that threatens their integrity; or, to a story in which something the team / someone does sets off a chain reaction of events; or, if taken literally (not as a metaphor), to Daniel (who else?) falling down a mountainside.

Would those sorts of themes work for you?

And/or, what about themes of a single word that commonly has more than one form/meaning (eg, 'duck', 'bear', etc)? Or, is that a bit too open-ended?

Ah, right, very good point about the single word noun/verb. And now that you've mentioned it, here is a stupid question: is there a comm for inspiring gen fic?

For a new theme, what about 'Sacrifice'? Surely there's tons of fic out there in which characters make some sort of sacrifice for others, sacrifice others, or are sacrificed themselves.

Thanks for running this community - I am very outdated and old-school in my reading and thanks to you and the comm I have been introduced to authors I'd never read before. Much appreciated.

Does podfic fall under "other media"? It's fic... but in a different medium... so I wasn't sure where you'd want to put it.
