I'll be offline for the next two weeks, but I wanted to remind you all that we're still running the other media theme. If you've got a favorite vid, podfic, meta essay, comic, or picspam that you'd like to share, we'd love to see it recced here!

Why this should be
The vid I'm reccing here is a fantastic retelling of the end of S1/beginning of S2 arc, starting from TBFTGOG and ending in Serpent's Lair. Great music, great scene choices, and I love the way the lyrics fit the story line impossibly well. A real treat that I always enjoy rewatching!

Why this should be
One of my all-time favorite Stargate fics, podficced brilliantly. This is just under half an hour of SG-1 at its best.

Why this should be read: This hilarious comic strip (complete with full transcription) had me crying with laughter as it tells the real story behind the rebellion against Ra!
Not to mention the deep dark sekret about why cats can have eerily reflective eyes...
My favorite panels are the first two of page 6, but this is all great fun. Go read, giggle, and enjoy!

Why this should be heard: This long and lush character study is simply gorgeous: Sam and her perspectives on the world, affected by close contact with a fascinating alien race, and filtered through the comfort and unwavering support of her teammates and friends. It's adult in the best sense of the word: intelligent, thoughtful, challenging. Aces does a stunning job of turning it into podfic, and this is half an hour of quality SG-1 at its best.

Why this should be watched: Absolutely hilarious trailer of a non-existent SG-1 movie that you just wish was real! I was grinning in the first few seconds, and laughing out loud by the end. :)
Mod note: yes, it includes Sam kissing Jack in Broca Divide. No, it is not shippy.

on the edges of canon?
We had six recs on that theme (click on the link above to read them), through March of this year, and then -- silence. My fault, I know.
So in an effort to get this rec comm going again (because I still love SG-1, as most of you do as well, and I've seen more and more references to rewatches lately), I've chosen a new theme for us: other media.
This is your opportunity to rec any kind of fanwork that's gen and related to SG-1, whether it's vids, picspam, meta, fanart, or any other kind of media that isn't actually fic.
Use common sense regarding the gen rules for the comm. Picspam for Moebius that includes the Sam/Jack kiss or a vid for Unending that includes scenes of Daniel/Vala aren't a problem, as long as they're not the focus of the fanwork; a vid that highlights every Daniel/Sha're kiss throughout the show, even though it's the pairing that's dear to my heart, shouldn't be recced here. If you've got any questions, feel free to ask.
I would also like to invite suggestions for future themes. You can see the list of past themes over here. And, of course, don't forget that any gen rec is welcome at any time, even if it's not related to the current theme.
