I'll be offline for the next two weeks, but I wanted to remind you all that we're still running the other media theme. If you've got a favorite vid, podfic, meta essay, comic, or picspam that you'd like to share, we'd love to see it recced here!
I have my own regular reccing journal that I update at least four times a month (usually) and there is no way I can keep this comm going at the same time without active participation. I absolutely understand and respect the desire of most fan to be passive participants: reading other people's recs, reading other people's fics/meta/etc. But without at least a few people shifting to active mode, there simply isn't anything happening here.
The comm isn't closed, and anyone can rec at any time. But as much as I wish I could, I can't keep this comm active without resorting to recycling older recs from my own journal.
Thanks, in any case, for commenting to ask. It's good to know there are still interested fans out there. :)
I was sick most of last year, and had no energy. I've started reading fic again and will see what I can do for recs.
I don't tend to look at the main fic rec sites as there are way more slash recs than I want to wade through.

At their best, words are an unwieldy set of tools locked in a mammoth struggle to codify and communicate the finest of our imaginings. ...At their worst, they collude in a stale lockstep or vapid platitudes perpetually in the employ of idiots and political speechwriters. When we enjoy a brief victory over the surly shackles of words, the result is poetry. -- 9 Chickweed Lane, 7/1/2012
