Why this should be read: Two compact and sparkling gems of characterization through reading material. Teal'c's choices (official and unofficial) are full of snark and satire and social commentary, conveyed in a style that perfectly emulates Teal'c's brand of deadpan humor. Daniel's choice is vividly evocative of his family history as he conceives it; his section is beautifully written, insightful and moving and uplifting. And both pieces have killer last lines.
Snippet of fic:
Compared to the propaganda permitted to circulate among the masses under System Lord rule, the religious and technical texts which took up the bulk of Serpent Guard's reading material, and even the considerable personal library he has amassed on Earth, Teal'c finds the Freesono stories over-written, implausible, and trying far too hard to achieve parody at the expense of cohesion. Even if they weren't, he can personally attest to the fact that no one who kills that many System Lords has time for quite that much sex.
