Why this should be read: This is sheer love for Sam and Teal'c. Light humor, a deft touch, and such gentle caring for each other. Teal'c's never-ending enthusiasm for pop culture and Sam's indulgence of that addiction will leave you smiling and wishing for more!

Why this should be read: Bittersweet melancholy at the end of all things: Sam and Teal'c standing on a beach, waiting for the world to end. Gentle friendship layered with regret, and a short, worthy read.
Teal'c at her side, Sam closes her eyes, lets the last speck of chocolate dissolve, and takes a step forward so the water tugs at her ankles. They don't look back.

Why this should be read: This is a beautifully written story where Teal'c is still coming to terms with the changes caused by no longer carrying a larval gao'uld. Full of love for Teal'c and Sam, also some tap-dancing.

Why this should be read: This is one of my favorite Teal'c friendship fics, showing his care and understanding of each teammate in turn.
In this five-things-turned-six, Paian gives us a beautiful portrait of post-Unending Teal'c, in all his dignity, maturity, and grace. There is his sense of self, and his acceptance of the weight he carries; there are his keepsakes of his teammates, and the love he has for every one of them. And most moving of all, there are the gifts he brings to each of his friends in turn: their acceptance, their reactions, and their affection. The last section, with Sam and Teal'c, nearly brings me to tears every time.
I rec this despite my intense dislike for Unending, and I strongly urge like-minded fans to read this and enjoy. And if you did like Unending.... well, what are you waiting for? :)
He has brought back one unbroken shell from the years crushed to dust along the shores of never-was.
Content, he moves on, into what will be.

Link to story: The Blue Jell-O Metaphor
Why this should be read: This is my definitive Sam Carter fic. It showcases her brilliant contrasts and why I love her so much.
Surrealis does an amazing job of presenting us with the many aspects of Samantha Carter: her struggle as the only woman on the team, her frustration that her brilliance scares off men before a relationship can even begin, her isolation from the women who are supposed to be her peers. Ridiculous expectations from one side are paired with contemptuous dismissal from another, and Sam sees herself as the single glass of blue Jell-O in a sea of red.
But then she's reminded of what she does have: an equally brilliant teammate who appreciates her mind and personality; a different teammate who knows, all too well, what it means to be an outsider and offers solidarity; and a CO who exasperates and inspires and encourages her in turn, to become ever greater than she already is.
"Super Sam" meets Major Sam meets Sam the woman meets Sam of SG-1, and they all decide, together, that things are pretty much okay the way they are... But she still isn’t wearing the tights!

Why this should be read: Here's another rec for prison fics week - one of my favorite stories, too: Stay in Touch, in which the unintentional jailers' best intentions keep Jack and Daniel trapped in the dark beneath the surface of a planet with no way out.
Sam and Teal'c and the SGC doggedly try and try and try to rescue Jack and Daniel, even as they struggle to explain to their well-meaning captors that they need to get out. But their only method of communication is a deadly one - "One of us has to chat with these guys... and one of us has to stay sane." Can Jack and Daniel make it back to the dangerous surface, and relearn how to relate with normal human beings?
Bleakly, powerfully fantastic, with a epilogue that will leave you wincing, Stay in Touch is a long, satisfying read that you'll want to revisit over and over again.
