Why this should be read:
Chance is a very satisfying action fic, that picks up just as an off-world mission goes horribly wrong. SG-1 is separated and outnumbered, but it's up to them to stop a fanatic group from taking control of the planet. We get to see awesome Sam, snarky Daniel, and some black-ops Jack. Also, their prophecies say that Teal'c is an angel of God.

Why this should be read: Normally I don't read kidfic, but while this does follow the usual trope of 'alien device turns person into kid', the story is not quite like the others. This is the first one I have read that turns Tok'ra into kids - and not just the hosts. It's hilarious to see them not only behave as children, but also children who knows very little about Earth and its customs. I really enjoyed poor Jack O'Neill and Teal'c as they try to carry out the mission Hammond gives them - babysit their two team mates along with the three Tok'ra who are all now 6 years old!

Why this should be read: Set about ten years in the future, when Sam is the general in command of the SGC and the Stargate Program has just gone public, this lovely, pensive fic is a combination of turning-outward (Sam wrestling with the demands of presenting the Program to the world accurately and sympathetically via the unruly media) and turning-inward (the team, coming back together to mourn the passing of a longtime comrade, closing in tight on itself). Outstanding Sam characterization, plausible and poignant extrapolation, 2431 words.

Why This Must Be Read: Just when you think there can't be possibly be yet another good episode tag for Shades of Grey, you discover an absolute gem like this one, in which a heavy-hearted Jack thinks he's lost his team and their friendship... and discovers that he hasn't.
Stellar Jack POV and characterization lend an extra degree of impact to etrangerici's story. Teal'c is a stunning bulwark, both figuratively and literally. Sam uses her military knowledge to comprehend Jack's choices. And Daniel - watching Jack watch Daniel slowly talk his way into understanding will move you nearly to tears.
Lovely, lovely teamy goodness. This one is just plain fantastic.
He finally felt that he was solid on his foundations once more. Because they were his team. And they weren't letting go.

While waiting for the scientists get them out of a locked room, Jack and Teal'c do a bit of bonding. That's about it as far as plot goes. Kalquessa gives us a bang on Teal'c POV, complete with his signature humour and observations on Tau'ri culture. Sufficient Illumination is sure to leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Why this should be read: This wonderful teamy fic is set shortly after Daniel's return at the beginning of S7. SEF deftly weaves canon together, creating an excellent backstory for an intriguing alien race that we only glimpsed on the show. The story challenges our characters with thorny moral dilemmas, a staple of the show at its best; it offers the hint of skeletons in the Asgard closet, which is one of my favorite fic twists for some odd reason; and it's got solid gold teamy goodness, with all four characters working together and displaying true friendship and support under the most trying circumstances.
Off-world exploration, the possibility of major cultural impact on Earth, breathtaking firefights, dramatic and emotional affirmation of SG-1's close bond, fantastic Sam voice – what more could you ask for?

Why this should be read:
No lost episodes theme would be complete without a rec for Travelling One. Enlightened acts as a sequel of sorts to the episode Prodigy, when SG-1 runs across the energy beings again on a different planet. This time, though, they're asking for help. Someone has trapped most of their kind to use them for power. SG-1 frees them, but runs into trouble when the remnants of that civilization that trapped them come looking for revenge. What results is an entertaining read all around, a rather unconventional (and ruthless) rescue, and a moral quandary à la Beast of Burden. But that's business as usual at the SGC.

Why this should be read: SG-1 gate to an ice planet and plunge, quite literally, into disaster. When what ought to be a routine rescue fails, Sam and Teal'c are forced to retreat to the Gate for help while Jack and Daniel struggle with injuries and hypothermia. With the SGC in lockdown and something deadly waking up beneath the ice, how can Sam and Teal'c get to Jack and Daniel in time?
Tok'ra cold-blooded pragmatism goes head-to-head with SG-1 loyalty and loses miserably; Jack and Daniel make the ultimate emotional sacrifice and give up their most cherished pasts for each other's lives; and the reader comes away from this amazing story with the mental shakes and a burning need to read everything else Julie has ever written.

Why this should be read:
Because dark!SG-1 makes my inner villain fangirl flail incoherently, and the quantum mirror means I can have that and our good!SG-1 at the same time. It really doesn't get much better than that. In Through A Glass Darkly, Apocrypha gives us a Daniel who's gone about a dark as you can get, a Jack who just doesn't care enough to intervene, and a United States military that's gone very, very wrong. And they're not going to let SG-1 leave alive. Faced with an enemy that looks like one of their own, SG-1 prove that their own bonds are their greatest strength as they escape this SGC. We've got resourceful!Sam, persuasive!Daniel, stoic!Teal'c, leader!Jack, and teamwork that impresses even this universe's Colonel O'Neill.

Soul Senses takes place shortly after the episode Threshold, and features an SG-1 that is trying but not-quite-over Teal'c's forced betrayal. When a suspicious village picks up on the team's hesitation and Teal'c's own insecurities, SG-1 is forced to undergo a test to prove their trustworthiness. Now they must find their way back to the village in two days, while overcoming the handicaps that the village elder/shaman has saddled them with. This fic is about Teal'c, and his team, and learning to work together again when you thought you'd forgotten how. A good read.

Why this should be read:
Even leaving aside my unreasonable love of stories based on misunderstandings, this fic is just plain fun. Basically, SG-1 is on a planet trying to find the MALP they sent through (because, really, they've already lost enough to annoy the higher-ups) when they're caught by a native who thinks they're genii. Captured and then separated, SG-1 has to do some quick-thinking to get out of this one. We get to see Teal'c dancing, and Sam and Daniel get to play with flashy technology. What's not to love?

Why this should be read: Call this Season 1, Episode 2.5. Random treats us to a fantastic lost episode in which Jack, Daniel, Sam, and Teal'c become team, with four individuals coming together to fuse into that wonderful entity known as SG-1. The story includes a literal gauntlet, fascinating challenges, an actual solution to a major contradiction between show canon and movie canon, and excellent shifting POVs throughout. Teamy goodness like this is an absolute joy!
