Why this should be read: Looking through my old bookmarks, I can't believe I never posted this here, because it is really one of my old favorites and I have re-read it quite a few times. Set post-Heroes, this is Cassie, raw from losing yet another person, not consoled by what anyone says. And this is Teal'c, not trying to console by words. And that's what helps.

Five ways Cassandra Fraiser left Colorado Springs, and what happened then.

Why this should be read:
Pedagogy is a lovely ficlet wherein Cassie's self-defence teacher is not quite prepared for a (female) student trained by an ex-black ops Colonel. Janet is not impressed. Not much else to say here. An excellent snippet of Cassie's life outside the SGC, which is always nice.

This short little story gives us a glimpse of what Daniel might have been up to during that year he spent Ascended. After all, Oma can't catch everything. Very sweet, and will have you smiling at the end.

Why this should be read: When I was looking at Pepper's fics I saw another fun kidfic with Cassie and Teal'c, how could I resist? In this sweet little fic, Teal'c goes to fellow alien Cassandra Fraiser after the rest of SG-1 compeletly fail to understand Jaffa humor in the third season episode "Seth".

There is a wonderful remix by [personal profile] sixbeforelunch, Elephant Jokes (the only slightly evil remix), which I also recomend highly.

No one gets Teal'c.

Why this should be read: So many good Cassie fics—how to choose? I'm going with totally adorable as my criteria.

Uncle Jack and Uncle Daniel take a very young Cassie on a trip to the zoo. Where, you know, all the animals are confined. Then ensues much catering to child logic. I'm utterly charmed that the girl who was rescued from a devastated planet indulges in some rescue fantasies of her own.

Why this should be read: I read this and loved it and told myself I must rec it immediately. :)

Gorgeous three-way conversation between Cassie, Janet, and Sam, immediately after Singularity when Cassie is trying to figure out the best way to approach her new life, Janet is trying to figure out her new role as guardian, and Sam is trying to figure out the best way to be there for them both. Charming, perfectly in character, and touched with just the right amount of light humor -- this one is definitely a keeper!

Why this should be read: This fic was written as the second "episode" for Chrysalis, a Stargate virtual mini-season (7.5) which begins with the assumption that Janet Fraiser was badly wounded in Heroes II, but is alive. That's all you need to know to read this story, which worked well for me as a stand alone AU. It's a tense exploration of what SG-1, Jacob, Hammond and Cassie might be willing to do to save Janet's life. And because I knew that this story was an AU, I really couldn't guess how it would be resolved.

Episode 2 for Chrysalis (go to Chrysalis page for Episode 1); To save one life, how much would you sacrifice?

Why this should be read:

This is a great little piece about Cassie's struggle to remain Hankan while assimilating into being on Earth. She's a little snippity and angry, and perfectly written as a young teenage girl. When confronted with the angry teenager, the team each acts in their own style, and its not really surprising when Daniel is the only one who handles it right. This is also an adorable Cassie and Daniel bonding moment.

Why this should be read: To quote the original prompt: There must have been a closed time loop when SG-1 ended up stranded in the future, before Cassie and/or Sam somehow got word back to the past to have Cassie waiting at the right moment. What was life like for Cassie in the loop where SG-1 never came back from 1969?

Yvi did a fabulous job of creating an entire alternate reality in which SG-1 never came back. Her world's history is rich, detailed, and realistic: the Jaffa are more wary of the Tau'ri without Teal'c, the Asgard have less to do with them without Jack, and there is little information on the Ancients without Daniel. On the other hand, there are the fascinating twists of this other reality, including Furlings, the program gone public, victory over the Goa'uld, and a certain civilian becoming head of the SGC.

Cassie gets a long, satisfying life, including marriage and a family... and then she knows she's going to live another one, all over again.

Full disclaimer: the prompt that inspired this story was mine. Yvi did a great job with it, didn't she? :)
