Why this should be read: Retired!Jack searching the woods alone for a cloaked murderer with a zat. Fatherfigure!Jack accidentally burning his waffle while looking for syrup for Dean's waffle. Why This Must Be Read: Vala and Teyla, both writing reports for the same mission. We need both Teyla's cool diplomatic wording and Vala's blunt and easy manner to get the real picture of what happened, but when you put it all together, you'll find it hard to stop laughing!

Teamy goodness, snark, and just the right amount of silliness to make this an absolute delight.

When Narnia and SG-1 Collide, by Cofax (G)

Title: When Narnia and SG-1 Collide
Author's LJ/DWJ: [personal profile] cofax7
Categories: era: pre-series, horror, theme:crossover
Warnings: crossover with Narnia
Author's Webpage/Fic list: Alchemy, Mouldiwarps, and Coprophagy
Link to story: When Narnia and SG-1 Collide
Why this should be read: Cofax gives a short, sharp, horribly plausible explanation for a certain person's character assassination in the Narnia books. Oooh, this hurts. And it's good.

If any of her siblings had been there, she would have noted it on her pad and packed it carefully away; but they weren't, and so she thought, "Well, it couldn't hurt to open it and peek inside, just a little."

It did, in fact, hurt. A great deal.
Title: The Shadow Over Chatsworth
Author's LJ/DWJ: [livejournal.com profile] saffronhouse / [personal profile] saffronhouse
Categories: Crossover with SGA, Daniel and Rodney Friendship, Horror, Drama
Warnings: violence, torture, general creepiness, some bad language
Author's Webpage/Fic list: Good Morning Sunshine
Link to story: The Shadow Over Charsworth

Why this should be read: I found this mixture of mystery, drama, and horror enthralling and wonderfully creepy. The entire story takes place on earth after Daniel and Rodney are stranded when their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. The character voices are excellent. A subtly ominous buildup and southern gothic atmosphere are blended perfectly with the Stargate world. You don't need to be familiar with SGA to enjoy this story, in fact I think it stands up well on its own. A fun read, definitely one of my favorites (and I don't even really like Rodney McKay).

Link to story: No Respect for Normal Dimensions

Why this should be read: I've always loved the idea of a SG-1/Discworld crossover, if it's played for humor instead of crack.

This fic? Made. Of. Win.

The Luggage at its most recalcitrant cowed by Jack, Death and cats and his acquaintance with Daniel, Teal'c and the Eyebrow of Irony, Sam trying to explain quantum, of all things, to Death...

I repeat: made of win, and funny enough for even non-Discworld fans to enjoy. If you love pTerry? Go read this right now.

Bad Pennies, by Salieri (G)

Title: Bad Pennies
Author's LJ/DWJ: [livejournal.com profile] troyswann
Categories: theme: crossovers, team, humor
Warnings: crossover with MacGuyver
Author's Webpage/Fic list: Outside the Box
Link to story: Bad Pennies

Why this should be read: This entertaining story is just plain fun, as MacGuyver and SG-1 cross paths in Central America, both trying to rescue the same jaguar from various bad guys. There's delightful MacGuyver POV as we see the team through his baffled eyes, a bomb made out of tissues and Daniel's antihistamines, the resemblance that everyone sees except Jack and MacGuyver... and the almost plaintive refrain of, "Seriously, what's a Tok'ra?"

A great romp with the team, with Ba'al thrown in for good measure. I defy you to read this without a big grin on your face.

It took me a few more seconds to light the fuse on the packet and to let the string burn to the right length. In that time, Daniel said to the cat, "Just hang on. We're going to get you out of here." The cat stared at him with an expression that communicated absolutely no confidence at all. Why I thought that, I couldn't tell you.

Unfinished Business, by Tallulah Rasa (PG)

Categories: theme: crossovers, team, SGA, humor
Warnings: crossover with House and SGA
Author's Webpage/Fic list: To Explore the Universe and Eat Pie
Link to story: Unfinished Business

Why this should be read: I don't follow House or SGA, but this ficlet made me laugh and laugh and laugh.

Written by the always marvelous Tallulah Rasa, Unfinished Business plunges us into the middle of a recruiting session, as SG-1, Sheppard, and McKay try to convince House to join the SGC. The dialogue is fast and furious and insanely funny, including competing death counts, gunshot wounds, and personality quirks. By the time the dust settles, you'll be wiping tears from your eyes and regretting that Tallulah Rasa has titled this Unfinished Business because it's a snippet of a larger work that she feels she will never complete. But knowing that there could have been more of this delightful story doesn't take away from how very wonderfully it stands, as is, on its own!

Title: Been There, Done That
Author's LJ/DWJ: n/a
Categories: theme: crossovers, Jack, team, humor
Warnings: crossover with The Legendary Journeys
Author's Webpage/Fic list: Less Than Legendary Journeys
Link to story: Been There, Done That

Why this should be read: Marthe Wilson is mostly known in the Stargate fandom for her fabulous Retrograde AU, which is SGA-centric with added SG-1. But she has also written this hilarious crossover with The Legendary Journeys, which is fantastic teamy goodness and a shamelessly fun romp. Like all good crossovers, knowledge of the second fandom isn't really necessary (outside the vaguest familiarity with the legend of Hercules) as Jack accidentally intercepts the "blue swirly doorways" that apparently exist in The Legendary Journeys universe and drags Iolaus back through the Stargate's wormhole with him.

There's great banter, delightful characterization, seamless teamwork, multiple crises, and snark galore. And while the SGC doesn't often get mistaken for "troglodytes," this is one crossover that will leave you wanting more!

Prodigal

Categories: Crossover
Warnings: none
Author's Webpage/Fic list: the DMZ
Why this should be read:
Honestly, I wasn't sure if I should rec this fic, because the Stargate character who receives the greatest focus is Major Lorne, and it's after he leaves the SGC to become Sheppard's XO on Atlantis. However, I think there are enough SG-1 characters in large roles to qualify for this community.

Told from NCIS's POV, this fic provides an excellent and well-written look at the SGC from the outside.  Gibbs and Co. have several dead scientists who may have been killed by Marines, and all their investigations lead to dead ends.  Naturally, Gibbs is not one to bow out of a case just because some Air Force general hells him to; he's determined to solve the case and find out about whatever nefarious program they're so desperate to hide.  As with all of Domenika's fic, the military details are perfect (or as perfect as possible given the source material).

Title: Indiana Jones and the Ring of Ra
Author's LJ/DWJ: Fiery Fred

Author's Webpage/Fic list: Stories by Fiery Fiend
Why this should be read:

It's 1939. Europe is on the brink of war. Indy's dad asks him to help out an old colleague. And the adventure begins...

Seriously, how awesome is this?  I'm surprised there aren't more crossovers on this premise; the Stargate was in Egypt in the late '30s, right when the Nazis and Indiana Jones were chasing each other across Northern Africa and Europe; of course the most intrepid (and likely to stumble across supernatural/scifi artifacts) archaeologist of his day would have been involved!  It's not a perfect story (the Langfords were Swedish, not German, for example), but it's a fun adventure no less plausible than any Indiana Jones movie (or Stargate episode, for that matter).  Also, it has Catherine Langford being awesome, too.

Why this should be read:

It's an interesting vignette about Vala, and how she's been changed by her time on SG-1, and what she would do if she found herself in another universe in the future and having to start from scratch (in this case, the Vorkosigan universe from Lois McMaster Bujold's excellent series of books, which I cannot recommend highly enough).  Very short, this suggests more possibilities than it deals with, but I find it interesting to read and think about.

Why this should be read:

This is one of the most innovative crossover mechanisms I've seen in a long time. It makes perfect sense, though. (Hint: it's post-Moebius, for Stargate canon.) It was just posted today, and I love it already. Very well done, and definitely worth the time to read.
