Why this should be read: When Sam walks into Daniel's office and finds a kitten sitting on his office chair, the conclusion is inescapable...
This is my favorite kind of crackfic: utterly hilarious, perfectly in character, with zingers flying all over the place. Great fun!

Link to story: Investigation into the effects of zat'ni'ktel fire on the common Peep, by Samantha Carter
Why this should be read: Hammond knows that a bored SG-1 is a dangerous thing...
A completely straight-faced written report by Sam on what happens when you fire a zat at Peeps. As delightfully cracky as it sounds, and absolutely for the win!
The subjects for the experiment, a box of Peeps marshmallow candies, were provided by Dr. Daniel Jackson, and Teal'c was responsible for firing the zat'ni'ktel. Colonel O'Neill assisted in the disposal of experimental subjects after testing was complete.

Link to story: To Travel The Galaxy* (*and eat pie)
Why this should be read: Cowardly Lion has made several SG-1 comics, every single one of which makes me laugh out loud! In this particular adventure, screencaps for Red Sky are transformed instead into Jack's search for the secret ingredient to ensure the SGC wins the intra-galaxy bake-off. Teal'c is the only one of the team who seems semi-sane, but that's par for the course, isn't it?
Other gen comics include Gone Astray (an Unas wants to adopt a stray Daniel pet), Road Trip: SG-1 Style (SG-1 going on a "road trip" with Jacob/Selmak), and Rumor Mill (Felger wants to chase down the rumor about Colonel O'Neill for The Gate Gazette).
I just wish I could make her post comics daily!

Why this should be read: This is one of my favorite crackfics ever: Armed only with a tomato ketchup bottle, Daniel must save SG-1!
Everything is just that little bit OTT without ever sliding into OOC. Makes me laugh every time. :)

Link to story: The Wrong Button
Why This Must Be Read: “Jack always suspected that one day Daniel would push the wrong button and the world would end.”
Of course, it’s which world that makes this story so fascinating…
What begins as fun and fluffy, with entertaining Wonder Twins geekery and fantastic Jack-and-Daniel banter, suddenly takes a ninety degree turn into horror when the wrong button gets pushed and Sam, Jack, and Daniel get to literally watch as a world is completely destroyed. There’s great characterization and wonderful dialogue, as Jack helps Daniel come to some kind of acceptance -- by reminding him of their shared history, and the triumphs and tragedies that inevitably result just from living.
Call this a sort of light apocafic, perhaps. But read it, and enjoy!

Link to story: Half-life
Why this should be read: In this peaceful, gently bantery post-series piece from Jack's point of view, Jack and Daniel are hanging out after a barbecue, Daniel translating the insults hurled by the kids tearing around the yard, Jack translating Daniel. (We don't know whose kids they are, just that they're there, the next generation, still full of energy as evening comes on, literally and, maybe, metaphorically.) A smile-inducing 1320-word meditation, rich with keen observations and character insights in a beautifully portrayed Jack headspace.

Why this should be read: I've always loved the idea of a SG-1/Discworld crossover, if it's played for humor instead of crack.
This fic? Made. Of. Win.
The Luggage at its most recalcitrant cowed by Jack, Death and cats and his acquaintance with Daniel, Teal'c and the Eyebrow of Irony, Sam trying to explain quantum, of all things, to Death...
I repeat: made of win, and funny enough for even non-Discworld fans to enjoy. If you love pTerry? Go read this right now.

Author's Webpage/Fic list: Outside the Box
Link to story: Bad Pennies
Why this should be read: This entertaining story is just plain fun, as MacGuyver and SG-1 cross paths in Central America, both trying to rescue the same jaguar from various bad guys. There's delightful MacGuyver POV as we see the team through his baffled eyes, a bomb made out of tissues and Daniel's antihistamines, the resemblance that everyone sees except Jack and MacGuyver... and the almost plaintive refrain of, "Seriously, what's a Tok'ra?"
A great romp with the team, with Ba'al thrown in for good measure. I defy you to read this without a big grin on your face.
It took me a few more seconds to light the fuse on the packet and to let the string burn to the right length. In that time, Daniel said to the cat, "Just hang on. We're going to get you out of here." The cat stared at him with an expression that communicated absolutely no confidence at all. Why I thought that, I couldn't tell you.

Author's Webpage/Fic list: To Explore the Universe and Eat Pie
Link to story: Unfinished Business
Why this should be read: I don't follow House or SGA, but this ficlet made me laugh and laugh and laugh.
Written by the always marvelous Tallulah Rasa, Unfinished Business plunges us into the middle of a recruiting session, as SG-1, Sheppard, and McKay try to convince House to join the SGC. The dialogue is fast and furious and insanely funny, including competing death counts, gunshot wounds, and personality quirks. By the time the dust settles, you'll be wiping tears from your eyes and regretting that Tallulah Rasa has titled this Unfinished Business because it's a snippet of a larger work that she feels she will never complete. But knowing that there could have been more of this delightful story doesn't take away from how very wonderfully it stands, as is, on its own!
